DEVELOPER / THE EVERYDAY TOOLKIT
JSON to CSV.
Convert an array of JSON records into downloadable CSV. This is a free utility from my portfolio toolkit, with local browser processing and no account required.
Builds the union of object keys as columns. Nested values are serialized as JSON. Formula protection is enabled by default; review data before opening it in a spreadsheet.
SIMPLE BY DESIGN
How to use JSON to CSV
- Paste a JSON array of objects, not a single object or an array of primitives.
- Keep spreadsheet formula protection enabled unless preserving exact text is required.
- Generate, inspect and download the CSV; nested data is kept as serialized cell text.
Move object records into a flat table.
The converter takes a nonempty array of JSON objects and builds a column for every top-level key seen across the records. Missing and null values become empty cells, while nested objects and arrays are serialized as JSON within their cells. Quotes, commas and line breaks are escaped for CSV. Formula protection prefixes suspicious text values with an apostrophe; it is enabled by default because spreadsheet applications can interpret formula-like content.
A FEW THINGS TO KNOW
A little more clarity.
Will the CSV preserve every JSON type?
CSV is a text table without JSON type metadata. Null and missing fields both produce empty cells, and nested values become JSON strings.
Is my input sent to a server?
No. This utility processes your input in your browser. URLs you paste are treated as data; the tool does not fetch them. Be careful with clipboard history on shared devices.
