DESIGN / THE EVERYDAY TOOLKIT

Aspect Ratio Calculator.

Simplify dimensions to a ratio and calculate a proportional size. This is a free utility from my portfolio toolkit, with local browser processing and no account required.

Simplifies whole-number dimensions with their greatest common divisor. The target height may be fractional; round it as appropriate for the output format.

How to use Aspect Ratio Calculator

  1. Enter the original whole-number width and height.
  2. Set the width you want the resized object to use.
  3. Generate the simplified ratio and proportional height, then round pixels if your export requires integers.

Preserve proportions when an image changes size.

Enter whole-number dimensions to find their simplest ratio using the greatest common divisor. Add a target width to calculate the corresponding proportional height. This is useful when reserving layout space, preparing image exports or checking video frames. The calculation does not resize or crop a file, and a fractional target height may need rounding for a raster export. For actual processing, move the calculated dimensions into Image Resizer.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

A little more clarity.

Will this resize the image file?

No. It only calculates dimensions and a CSS ratio. Use Image Resizer to create a resized file.

Is my input sent to a server?

No. This utility processes your input in your browser. URLs you paste are treated as data; the tool does not fetch them. Be careful with clipboard history on shared devices.
